Travel insurance is an added expense tacked on to the end of your vacation tab, and most people waive the fee without learning the details of what the travel insurance covers. The most common coverage is for medical emergencies, lost luggage and a full or partial reimbursement for any cancellation fees. However, before you add a travel insurance policy, evaluate your unique situation as to how much coverage is prudent, or if you need any at all. So is buying travel insurance worth it? The answer depends on where you are going and what you have planned for your itinerary.

When traveling overseas, its a good idea to purchase some kind of coverage. Travelers who will participate in an escort tour will be given the option to buy the minimum travel insurance coverage, usually just a few hundred dollars due at the time the balance of the tour is paid. This type of coverage is checked out by the tour operator and one of the safest coverage plans you can buy. Nothing fancy and no frills, just solid coverage for loss of life or limb, stolen baggage and excursion cancellations scheduled for your tour. In addition, the tour group policy will usually cover an emergency flight back home after obtaining medical treatment.

If you are traveling domestically or overseas and planning to stay with a friend or relative, you probably do not need to invest in travel insurance. The insurance plan is offered from tour companies, not only for the traveler's benefit, but peace of mind for themselves should any snafu arise. However, if your next vacation includes a ski trip or other intense sport where there's a possibility of taking a tumble, you want to be sure you have basic medical coverage, especially outside of the United States. It makes good sense to buy some kind of coverage for medical emergencies, no matter how profitable you are in sports.

Some travel insurance companies specialize in coverage for high risk sports and activities, and such companies often carry the best rates. If your itinerary includes mountain climbing, white water rafting, etc. you may opt for full coverage to cover the cost of evacuation, as well as any medical treatment received. Some industry giants, such as worldtravelcenter.com, allow their clients to pick and choose exactly what they wish to be covered for, then keeping the policy bill to a bare minimum.

A common misnomer is that when you travel to countries using socialized medicine, that you will be treated for free. No. The citizens of that country must show a national ID card for treatment and foreigners will be billed a hefty fee. The savvy and seasoned traveler knows the risk of injury and will plan ahead with a premium policy to cover all the bases.

When choosing your travel insurance plan, be sure to get one that offers good protection for your luggage. If anything is going to go awry, it will most likely be lost or stolen bags. However, …

Dreaming of travelling? Good for you. But are you dreaming, or are you making it happen?

Reading travel blogs doesn't count. If you haven't made plans to travel, you are wasting precious time.

What are you waiting for?

Nothing lasts forever -- not you, and not famous world monuments. If you want to see the great pyramids of Egypt, get that passport ready and find your way there. If you're looking at exotic Costa Rica vacation packages, don't just look -- book! If you want to see the Grand Canyon, fill up your gas tank and go!

Here's a little story. When I was a kid back in the 80's, I did a state report on New Hampshire. Being on the opposite side of the country, it may as well have been a foreign land. I learned about their state bird and their state flower, both quite beautiful, and I learned about their significance in American voting.

But what intrigued me most about this state, aside from their staunchly pugnacious state motto of "Live Free or Die," was their famous natural wonder, the Old Man of the Mountain. This was the Granite State's very own naturally-formed profile of rock at the top of a mountain. It looked so much like a face, and extended so far out from the mountainside that I figured you'd have to see it in person to believe it wasn't man-made.

As you may know, the Old Man of the Mountain is no longer there. As naturally as it was formed, it collapsed. This great majestic face in the mountain was reduced in a moment to a pile of rocks.

I had always wanted to see that for myself. And when I was older, just out of college, I landed a temporary job in New Hampshire in the summertime.

The Old Man in the Mountain in New Hampshire collapsed RIGHT before I left home for that job.

My gig started in June. The Old Man collapsed in May.

Earthquakes happen unexpectedly. The sea levels are rising. Glaciers are melting. Hurricanes are getting stronger.

Time never stops. Governments get overthrown. Man made objects crumble.

If there's something or someplace you want to see, then go see it. Before it's gone.

If you're waiting to be able to afford to go instead of actively saving money, your final destination is going to be sadnessville.

Get started right now. Don't wait for the next paycheck. Sell some things on eBay (or elsewhere online).

Surely there's something in your house that you've held onto for sentimental reasons. Just ask yourself if you want that physical object that takes up space more than you want to travel to somewhere exotic and exciting.

Whatever you do, don't make the mistake of waiting too long.…

Over the years timeshares and their developers have gone through extensive reforms. Originally a concept that just meant Vacation Property Rental has now turned into a vortex of new ideas and money making schemes. Timeshares are classified through many different categories, Floating week is despite the most controversial category of them all.

To properly understand what a Floating week really is we need to understand how timeshare weeks are really sold. Lets say that "Resort A" has 100 units (room's / suite's), As we already know that there are 52 weeks in a year meaning that each room can only be sold 52 times to be able to accommodate all guests on their given weeks, Making "Resort A" capable to sell 5200 units at $ XX amount. Here is where the Floating week actually comes in, The Resort Developers realized that this scenario leaves them sold out very quickly though killing the revenue generated through Timeshare sales. All the Giant resort developers decided to get together and basically give the Timeshare owners a "Resort A" a chance to give up their Fixed week at a certain resort to be able to enjoy their vacation at any of the other 600 resorts in the developers network . The resort gets to free up their sold rooms and the Timeshare owners receive to enjoy their vacation at different destinations year after year.

At a glance this all looks like an ideal situation. The Timeshare owner is not obliged to take vacation on the same dates or travel to the same location year after year. The only down side to this whole situation is that due to over booking of these resorts it is now next to impossible for the Floating week owners to reserve their stay at their desired location during their desired timings. The resort giants have turned this once a great concept of vacation partial ownership into a ruthless money making scheme. Paying for upgrades and getting through blackout dates is next to impossible. …

Despite all the negative press that the airline industry gets, the reality is that airline travel is an absolute miracle. Only 100 years ago, it was unthinkable to be able to travel to other states or countries in only a matter of hours. The downside of air travel is that it can often be expensive. If the cost was only a few dollars, we might do it much more often. Unfortunately, it typically costs hundreds or thousands of dollars. Luckily, there are a few ways you can get airline tickets for free or for a heavily discounted price.

1. Frequent Flyer Programs

If you regularly spend money with your credit cards, why not get a little something back? Almost every major airline has a partnership with various credit card companies to give you free miles with every dollar you spend. It may not be technically "free", but by the end of the year you may have earned enough miles to take a trip to your favorite vacation spot.

2. Bonus Offers

Sometimes, when you buy an expensive item, you can get airline tickets for free. If you are about to buy a new TV, why not look to see who is offering free airline tickets as an incentive? Also, many hotels will give free tickets to their guests if they book for a long enough period of time. Sometimes if you sign up for a gym membership, the gym will award a pair of free tickets to one of their new members every month. Although you may not find them every time, it can be useful to look for offers like these when you can.

3. Raffles, Promotions, Contests, and Giveaways

Many business will hold a Grand Opening promotion, and some businesses do this on a recurring basis. They want to draw attention to their business, and they do this by offering free stuff like airline tickets. You can benefit by entering into these contests and promotions.

4. Book a Flight During the Busy Season

Airline pros who like to travel for free will often deliberately book their flights during the busiest times of the year. This is often during the Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons. Often, those flights will be over booked and airlines will offer people free money and free tickets to take the next flight. It is actually possible to be reimbursed for more cash than you actually paid for the ticket! …

If you are planning a trip to Hawaii, there are many things that need to be considered before going from the mainland to this tropical paradise. Funding, time spent, where to stay, and many other considerations are all part of the latest issue of need to make before you go on your tropical vacation. Here are a few tips on what you need to consider before embarking into paradise.

Trips to Hawaii are not cheap. That is, unless you get a package deal. If you're simply flying over and are intending on finding a place to stay, a car to rent, and doing a variety of activities, you easily spend $ 10,000 before your week is up. This is probably not a good way to budget your vacation.

If, however, you decide to be smart and plan ahead, at least a couple months in advance, you can save thousands of dollars in the following ways:

1 - Get a package deal. If you go to a travel website and you look up the price of an airline ticket to Hawaii, it will run about the $ 500- $ 600 range. Depending upon which website you are looking at, if you also look for a travel package which includes your airfare, hotel stay, and a rental car, you can sometimes get all of this for the same price but you would an airline ticket.

2 - Book for multiple guests. Here's another tip that will save you money. If you're going with someone else, typically you can stay in the same room. But what if you're bringing your family? Now you run the problem of having to rent multiple rooms. The solution to this is twofold.

First, you could rent several rooms from the same hotel. To get them at the same discount rate that you got one room for, order in multiples of two. Meaning, if you are bringing six people, book the package deal with two people in each room. This will allow you to get free rooms for every two guests for the price of the plane ticket.

Second, you can look for condos or homes that are being rented which allow you to house families for the price of one. This means you could bring 6 to 8 people and stay for the same cost that you would have to pay if you bought yourself in a guest.

3 - Book events as well. You will notice that when you were ordering your package that before you put in your credit card information, you can book several different activities at a discount. Use the same strategy here if you're bringing people, or a family of 10, make sure to choose these options now or else you will have to pay full price upon arrival at the Hawaiian islands.

Trips to Hawaii are going to be expensive, but they do not have to be excessively expensive if you know how to book package deals especially if you are …

So you want to go to Hawaii and you're looking for a cheap flight? Let me give you some tips on how to ensure you are getting the lowest price possible on your airplane tickets to Hawaii.

When buying airplane tickets to Hawaii you should expect to pay $600 to $900, possibly more even if you're coming from the West Coast. If you are booking flights to Hawaii in the spring for the summer, then you may be able to get prices as low as $400 round trip. Sometimes Hawaiian Airlines has killer deals where you can get to Hawaii for $300 but that's about as low as the price gets.

Money Saving Tips Specific to Hawaii Travel

1) Check Hawaiian Airlines for Ridiculously Cheap Flights

Sometimes Hawaiian Airlines has some insanely cheap rates from the West Coast to Hawaii. Hawaiian Airlines is aggressively expanding their roots so it might even be worth it to check even if you're not on the West Coast.

2) Fly to Hawaii During the Off Seasons

Trips to Hawaii can often be significantly cheaper when flying during non-peak months. Fall( September, October, November) and Spring( March, April, May) can provide exceptionally cheap tickets to Hawaii. I've gotten tickets from the East Coast to Hawaii Round Trip for about $500 during these times. During the Winter many vacationers want to escape the cold and there is also the Triple Crown of Surfing in December which attracts large crowds. In the summer many people want to take their kids on vacation as they don't have school. So try flying in the fall or the spring during the suggested months and you could save a ton.

3) Book Your Flight into Honolulu

Fly into Honolulu even if you're going to an outer island (Maui, Kauai, Big Island (Hawaii)). Resist the urge to book direct to Kahului (Maui), Lihue (Kauai) or Kona/Hilo (Big Island). There are literally millions of people visiting Hawaii every year. Over the years more airline carriers have started servicing flights to Hawaii as its a very desirable destination. Take advantage of the competition to fill seats on flights to Honolulu. You can save a significant amount of money this way. Getting to Maui, Kauai, Big Island is quick, easy and cheap. There are a number of carriers you can get flights to these islands. Go! Airlines, Hawaiian Airlines, Mokulele Airlines, and Island Air can get you to the island you need to get to.

4) Use Orbitz, Expedia or Similar Online Travel Website.

All of these online travel portals use the same engine to generate prices for airplane ticket prices. Put in your travel dates, departure/arrival airports and this will bring up the fare compare screen and you'll be able to see at a glance what you'll be paying for different routings/airlines. With this search you have a ballpark figure for what you should expect to pay.

5) Look at your options with Orbitz/Expedia and Search the Airlines Website Directly

You can sometimes save …
