About Castle Donington

Donington Park, more popularly known as simply Donington, is a motorsport circuit near Castle Donington, a village in North West Leicestershire, a beautiful area filled with history and scenic surroundings, the village standing on the former Nottingham to Birmingham trunk road. Castle Donington is a mix of the old and new, with modern shops and Regency and Georgian houses, a fascinating place that looks up into the future, but, in the same time, remembering the past.

Throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Donington Park was the original venue for Monsters of Rock heavy metal festivals, today being recognized as one of UK's most popular racing circuits, playing host to exciting prestigious events such as The British Touring Car Championship, Download Festival, and the Donington Grand Prix Collection, the world's largest collection of Formula One and Grand Prix vehicles.

In addition to the vast array of appealing attractions, "sprinkled" throughout the area within Castle Donington lies, the village also offers exciting celebrations, throughout the year, such as the medieval market, happening once a year, in May, held on the main shopping street in Castle Donington, featuring local stalls selling various kinds of produce and goods, accompanied by dancing and music, or the Donington Wakes, a fabulous traveling fair, which usually takes place during the last week of October.
